Fulbright Scholar Program
FULBRIGHT SCHOLAR PROGRAM
Each year 800 scholars travel to some 140 countries under the auspices of the Fulbright Scholar Program. The Fulbright Commission in Ecuador has hosted approximate 290 Fulbright Scholars since the program began in 1956. The Board of Directors of the Fulbright Commission in Ecuador encourages applicants in any field, from every academic rank, including academic administrators, independent scholars and professionals.
Ecuador offers unique opportunities for research and lecturing in many fields. Recent projects in Ecuador conducted by Fulbright Scholars have involved research in entomology, literature, bio diversity in the upper Amazonian area, migration, choral direction, archeology sites, photography, ceramics, American studies, history, and tropical insects and plants.
Fulbright Scholars in Ecuador, in addition to their research, help disseminate their knowledge and experiences through lectures throughout the country and through the Fulbright Forum, a free public-lecture monthly series held at the Commission. Scholars are also invited to be members of the Selection Committee, which selects the Ecuadorian students and faculty who will be pursing post-graduate work in the U.S.
Scholars have developed long-lasting ties with the institutions of affiliation, which have lead to many other research projects involving U.S. and Ecuadorian scholars and students.
