"The Study of the
United States" Program
The "Study of U.S." Programs are
six-week academic programs for multinational groups of
university faculty from abroad. Institutes are held at
university campuses throughout the United States and
focus on a particular theme or topic in American studies.
18-30 foreign educators participate in each Institute.
The purpose of
these programs is to strengthen curricula and improve the
quality of teaching about the United States in academic
institutions in Ecuador. Each program includes two
components: an intensive, four-week academic seminar and
a two-week study tour designed to reinforce the academic
content of the seminar.
Each year there
are specific programs for secondary school educators and
specific programs for university professors.
This program is
fully funded.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Sponsorship
of the institution where the educator works
- University
degree equivalent to a B.A or B.S. at minimum and
in the areas specified by each institute. Under
the Ecuadorian educational system, this would be
a Licenciatura.
- English
sufficiency level equivalent to TOEFL score 550
(PBT)
- Ecuadorian
citizenship
- Demonstrated
teaching experience
- Ability to
apply knowledge in field of work
- Have not
worked or studied in the U.S. in the past 5 years
