Educational Advising

This center strives to provide accurate, comprehensive, current, and unbiased information on educational opportunities in the United States.

Our logo indicates that we belong to a network of Educational Advising Centers affiliated with the US Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

In addition to administering the Fulbright Program in Ecuador, the Fulbright Commission in Ecuador has two educational advising centers, Quito and Guayaquil, that operate a reference library and an advisory service for people interested in study in the United States, regardless of the level of study.

REFERENCE LIBRARY

Among many other things, the library includes comprehensive information on graduate programs and standardized admission tests, university catalogs, university guides and handbooks, test preparation materials, videos on U.S. universities, reference books on financial aid, and a data base on U.S. universities and colleges. Hundreds of persons consult the Commission's library each year.

Opened in Quito Monday thru Thursday from 8:30 am to 7:00 pm; Fridays, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

GROUP ORIENTATIONS

The Commission offers group orientations to Ecuadorian citizens on information about the U.S. Educational System and application processes to U.S. universities as well as the Fulbright Program. We also organize outreach conferences when requested by individual groups, especially from the provinces, like high schools, universities, organizations and any other groups that could benefit from the information that we give. These orientations are at no-cost.

Group Orientations in Quito: Wednesdays at 5:00 pm

ONE-ON-ONE ORIENTATIONS

The Educational Advising service is offered at no cost to all those who have further interest and questions about the application process to programs in the U.S. This includes guidance in selecting universities; filling out applications; writing admission essays; and, preparing supplemental documentation.

ONE-ON-ONE Advising via MSN Messenger!!

The Educational Advising Center is now offering advising services online through MSN Messenger at no cost to all members of our network who have further interest and questions about the application process to programs in the U.S. These virtual sessions will be held on the following schedules:

Mondays from 3 to 5 pm and Thursdays from 9 to 11 am

Interested users must have MSN Messgenger installed and will need to join our network through asesoria_academica_ec@hotmail.com.

CERTIFICATION OF TRANSLATIONS

Although the Commission does not offer translation services, we do certify translations for academic purposes made by licensed translators for a small fee.

CERTIFICATION OF ACCREDITATION

The Commission issues accreditation certificates of U.S. universities in order for Ecuadorian citizens to register their academic degrees within the country.

UNIVERSITY FAIRS and UNIVERSITY PRESENTATIONS

The Educational Advising Center offers to help organize university fairs in the country for a fee. We take care of advertising it in local newspapers, sending out invitations to local high schools, universities and other institutions, inviting the public in general.

For individual universities who wish to come to Ecuador and promote their institutions, we offer the same communications plan and also we provide the space for the presentation.

TESTING FOR DISTANCE LEARNING PROGRAMS

The Educational Advising Center also provides testing to students enrolled in distance learning programs. This service is offered for a small fee to cover the proctor's fee. We do not incur in shipping expenses; therefore, the university and the student must come to an understanding prior to starting testing. University representatives must contact the educational advisor for details.
